HDR pics

I wanted to be creative today.  I was going to do some HDR photography.  Basically taking the same picture at different exposures and merging it together using a program.  I'm using a program called Photomatix (trial).  You can buy this program for $100.  Visit stuckincustoms.com to see Trey's Ratcliff HDR photo's and the link to download the photomatix application.  The trial program is free and has no expiration date, but you get the watermarks on your photo's.  This program is very easy to use.  Here are a couple more HDR pictures and how our day started early in the morning.

Shooting the stars, FAIL

Jeff and I went to Makapu'u around 11pm to shoot the stars. (FAIL).  Bummer, it was cloudy tonight. Taken at 34mm, F5.0, ISO 1250 and at 30 seconds.

Impromptu Family Portrait

This was taken in Kaneohe.  Usually we only take a family portrait during Christmas.  Today was different.  Everyone came for Lynn's mom 49th day service.  After Lunch we all gathered and took this picture.  I think it came out pretty good.  25mm, 1/40sec, ISO 400, and f8.0.  I used my flash for this pic

Haleiwa Beach

Check out this view.  It's a perfect day for the beach.  Paddle board seems fun.  I wanna try it.  All pictures are unedited.

Seattle by boat

In August of last year, we explored Seattle by Boat and sailed to one of the islands.  For $7.50 each, we rode to Bremington Island.  It was about a 3 hour ride (round trip).  I took this photo coming back to Seattle.  The weather was very nice that day.

Vancouver - Capilano Bridge

This was taken in March 2010 with my Rebel Xti.  We arrived in Vancouver right after the Olympics.  We went to Capilano Bridge park.  There's bridges you can walk around this park.  Very green and very peaceful.  Eventually, I will visit Vancouver again.

Makapu'u Light House

It was a good hike.  Wanted to get here earlier, but woke up late.  Next time.

Fireworks

The was taken a few weeks ago at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  This firework show lasted 4 minutes.  Forgot my tripod, so decided to do a video on my DSLR camera.  During the middle of video, I decided to take a picture.  This is the result (unedited).  I reviewed the footage after and realize that when I took the photo, it paused my video.  Lesson learned.  Even with the little error, both turned out OK.  Next time I'll bring my tripod and take pictures.

Go straight or U-turn?

Highway from Walla Walla to Pullman.  We went straight.  It's almost a 2 hour drive.  It was nice to sit in the passenger's seat and take in the view.  This reminds of the  roads that we travel in life.  If you need to make a U-turn, you can.

Halona "Cockroach" Beach Cove

This is a nice little beach on the east side of Oahu, right before Sandy's.  Walk down a short trail and you're at the beach.  This is one of the few pictures I took.  I wanted to get the side of the hill in this picture.

Seattle Light Rail Station

This was taken inside one of the entrances into the light rail station.  I thought it would look good in B&W.  When you stare at it, it seems as you're there.  Anyways, we were in Seattle during the May Day riot.  It's a good thing we were taking a short trip to one of the islands during the peak of the riot.  We went back the next day to walk around the retail district.  Seattle has some really steep hills.
